A Return to Yourself, Through the Wisdom of the Body and Nature
Welcome to Florea Sanctuary, a space where Traditional Chinese Medicine, therapeutic movement, and the wisdom of nature come together to support a more balanced and connected way of living.
Rooted in ancient healing traditions and informed by a modern understanding of the body, my work brings together acupuncture, therapeutic yoga, fascia-focused movement, and embodied practices that encourage you to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and cultivate a deeper sense of well-being.
I believe that caring for ourselves goes beyond addressing individual symptoms. It also means learning to listen to our bodies, recognizing what we need, and creating space for rest, movement, and renewal.
Through my work, I invite you to explore a more mindful relationship with your body—one that honors your individuality, respects your natural rhythms, and supports you in navigating the demands of modern life.
Florea Sanctuary was created with the intention of bringing the wisdom of traditional healing practices into everyday life, offering a grounded, body-centered approach to wellness in a world that often asks us to do more, move faster, and disconnect from ourselves.
Who I Am
My name is Marketa. I am a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM), licensed acupuncture physician (L.Ac.), somatic movement and yoga teacher (RYT-250), herbalist, and natural living advocate originally from the Czech Republic.
My professional background brings together Chinese medicine, therapeutic yoga, fascia-focused practices, and years of experience in movement and holistic health. I am also certified in yoga and fascia and have a background in personal training, dance, and more than 15 years of yoga teaching experience.
But my path toward holistic health began long before my formal studies.
Growing up surrounded by forests, gardens, and the rhythms of nature, I developed a deep appreciation for the natural world and traditional ways of caring for the body.
Both of my grandmothers were herbalists, and some of my earliest memories are of learning from their knowledge of medicinal plants, preparing traditional remedies, and gathering herbs in the surrounding forests and valleys. These experiences planted the seeds of a lifelong curiosity about the relationship between nature, health, and healing.
My Journey
A Personal Search for Healing
As an adult, I faced my own health challenges, including digestive difficulties and back pain related to scoliosis. These experiences profoundly influenced the direction of my life and inspired me to explore approaches to health that looked beyond temporary relief.
During this time, I discovered yoga and Ayurveda. Through movement, breath, and a more holistic understanding of the body, I began to experience meaningful changes in my physical and emotional well-being.
My curiosity continued to grow, leading me to study Western herbalism and deepen my understanding of natural approaches to health.
With a background in personal training and dance, I eventually became a certified yoga teacher and opened my own yoga studio, creating a space where others could explore movement, mindfulness, and self-care.
Discovering Chinese Medicine
After moving to the United States, I felt drawn to Traditional Chinese Medicine and its holistic understanding of the human body. I pursued a master’s degree in the field, expanding my knowledge of acupuncture, traditional healing principles, and the interconnected relationship between physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
Over the years, my studies and professional experience have continued to shape the way I understand health and the healing process. My work brings together Chinese medicine, somatic movement, and myofascial awareness, with an emphasis on supporting the body rather than working against it.
I have become particularly interested in the ways stress, tension, movement patterns, and our relationship with our bodies influence how we feel and function in everyday life.
My Approach
I believe that meaningful change begins with a deeper connection to ourselves.
Rather than pursuing quick fixes or a one-size-fits-all approach, I aim to create space for you to slow down, develop body awareness, and explore practices that support your individual needs.
Through acupuncture, somatic movement, breath awareness, and myofascial practices, I help people explore ways to work with tension, support nervous system regulation, and cultivate a greater sense of grounding, resilience, and connection.
My approach is informed by years of study and practice, but it is also guided by the understanding that every person is different. Your experiences, needs, and pace matter.
While my background includes herbal medicine, Ayurveda, and traditional plant-based healing, my current focus is on the integration of Chinese medicine and body-centered practices that help people reconnect with their bodies and support their well-being.
My Intention
Today, through Florea Sanctuary, I share this work through acupuncture treatments, movement practices, courses, and educational resources designed to bring the principles of holistic self-care into everyday life.
My intention is to help you reconnect with your own inner resources, cultivate greater awareness, and create a more supportive relationship with your body.
I believe that caring for ourselves doesn’t have to mean adding more to our already busy lives. Sometimes, it begins with slowing down, listening inward, and reconnecting with what has always been within us.
A return to yourself. A reconnection with your body. A more mindful way of living.
Welcome to Florea Sanctuary.
