Acupuncture

Ancient medicine,
deeply personal
to you

Acupuncture at this clinic is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. Each session is shaped around your body, your nervous system, and what you are carrying right now.

What Is Acupuncture

A medicine that listens to the whole person

Acupuncture is one of the oldest healing systems in the world, rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It works by stimulating specific points on the body — using very fine, sterile needles — to restore the natural flow of energy, known as Qi, through the body's meridian pathways.

From a modern perspective, acupuncture is understood to influence the nervous system, reduce inflammation, regulate hormones, and support the body's own healing mechanisms. The two views are not in conflict — they simply describe the same phenomenon through different lenses.

What makes this approach distinct is the attention to root cause. Rather than managing a symptom in isolation, each treatment looks at the whole picture: your sleep, digestion, emotional state, stress levels, and physical sensations.

"The goal is not simply to reduce what is wrong — it is to support what your body already knows how to do."
How It Can Help

What acupuncture may support

✦

Nervous System Regulation

Acupuncture gently shifts the body out of fight-or-flight and into a state of rest and repair — supporting those living with chronic stress, anxiety, or burnout.

✦

Hormonal & Menstrual Health

Supports cycle regulation, eases menstrual discomfort, and addresses the hormonal imbalances that affect mood, energy, and overall wellbeing.

✦

Pain & Tension Relief

From chronic pain and headaches to muscular tension and postural holding patterns — acupuncture works directly with the tissue to release and restore.

✦

Sleep & Fatigue

By regulating the nervous system and addressing underlying imbalances, acupuncture can help restore more restful, restorative sleep and improve energy levels.

✦

Digestive Balance

Supports healthy gut function, eases bloating, and addresses the gut-brain connection that underlies so much of how we feel day to day.

✦

Emotional Wellbeing

Acupuncture offers a quiet, held space for emotional processing — supporting those navigating grief, overwhelm, low mood, or a sense of being disconnected from themselves.

Your Session

What to expect when you come in

01

A Conversation First

Your initial consultation begins with time to talk. We explore your health history, your current experience, and what has brought you here. This is unhurried — understanding your whole picture is the foundation of good treatment. In your first session, this intake takes up a meaningful portion of the time, which is why it is longer than follow-ups.

02

Gentle Assessment

A light physical assessment informs the treatment — this may include pulse reading and tongue observation, both classical diagnostic tools in Chinese Medicine that offer a window into what is happening beneath the surface. Everything is done with your comfort and consent.

03

The Treatment

Fine, sterile needles are placed at carefully selected points — often you will feel very little, or a brief, dull sensation that fades quickly. Most people find the experience deeply relaxing. You will rest with the needles in place for around 20–30 minutes. Additional techniques such as acupressure, moxibustion, or breathwork may be woven in where appropriate.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are extremely fine — much thinner than a standard medical needle. Most people feel very little upon insertion, and any brief sensation typically fades within seconds. Many clients describe the overall experience as deeply relaxing, and some fall asleep during treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on your individual situation. Acute conditions may respond quickly, while longer-standing patterns often benefit from a course of 4–6 sessions. We discuss this together at your initial consultation and review as we go — there is no pressure to commit to more than feels right for you.
What should I do before my appointment?
Have a light meal 1–2 hours beforehand and avoid caffeine directly before your session. Wear or bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to your lower legs and arms. Avoid alcohol on the day of treatment.
Is acupuncture safe?
When practiced by a qualified and licensed acupuncturist, acupuncture is considered very safe. Only sterile, single-use needles are used. Please inform me of any existing health conditions, medications, or if you are pregnant, so treatment can be adapted appropriately.
How will I feel afterwards?
Most people feel calm, relaxed, and sometimes pleasantly tired after a session. It is a good idea to keep the rest of your day gentle if possible — avoid intense exercise, alcohol, and give your body time to integrate the treatment. Some people notice shifts in how they feel over the following 24–48 hours.
